Authentic experiences in traditional boats
These fishing trips are optimal for small groups and families who enjoy active travel. There are only up to 5 tickets sold to each tour. You sail in a traditional Faroese boat, the utmost of Faroese handicraft.
You meet us at the Árnafjørður marina. We bring floatations suits, boots and fishing gear, so all you need to bring is a camera! If this your first attempt at fishing, do not worry, sea-angling is easy to learn and fun too!
You sail out from the Árnafjørður marina and follow the eastern seashore by Mjóvin. The fiord Árnafjørður is about 4 nautical miles and the high surrounding mountains shelter against north-westerly winds.
Sailing close to the shore you see the varied landscapes with ravines and grottoes. Keep your eyes open to seals as they have this area as their natural habitat. You procede to Bergsmunnin and see the view east towards the island of Svínoy. You sail further along this spectacular coastline towards “Bergið”.
Of the coast by Bergið you cast your fishing line! Typical fish in area are Atlantic cod, Haddock and Saithe, but sometimes you may catch Ling, Tusk and Redfish. At a certain location you will try to catch the beautiful “Reyðfiskur” – a variation of the Atlantic Cod that assumes the red colours of it’s seaweed habitat.
Should you be blessed with a catch, you get to take the fish with you to prepare for a wonderful meal!
